If you mainly edit photos, Illustrator is the wrong tool: that is Adobe Photoshop. And if you are new to design entirely, Graphic Design Using Canva teaches the fundamentals first.

Illustrator is a paid Adobe subscription. Adobe offers a free trial, which is enough to start the course and see whether vector design suits you before you commit.
No. Most Illustrator work is built from shapes and paths, not freehand drawing. Rough pencil sketches are all you need to plan a logo.

It is unfamiliar rather than hard. We break it into small drills and you practise on real curves until it clicks, then use it on the logo project.
